Ruth's work is inspired by the natural landscape and she records her affinity and close relationship with her surroundings.
Through painting from life, Ruth is interested in the dialogue and narrative that is created with the landscape and the emotive response to it.
Ruth's painting is driven by her attention to detail and she finds great pleasure in exploring miniature marks and forms as well as enjoying the composition of different marks and spaces within the painting and how they speak to each other and their ability to express emotion.
